When it comes to ethics and morals each practitioner will have their own idea of what is and isnt acceptable. With some practitioners especially in Wicca, they practice three fold law which essentially means what you put out there will come back to you three times over. It is sometimes referred to as the Wiccan Rede. That principle doesn't hold for everyone. There are practitioners out there who will not hold the same ethics as others, they will not think twice of targeting your child, pet or loved one. Whilst this is immoral to you, it isnt to another.

Moving onto social media, there are many out there who say that they will not throw magic at another in a harmful way really do my swede in. That is entirely their choice but then they go on to preach like thats what we all should be doing. It completely disregards the practices of other people and the way of thinking. This then becomes in some regard a form of religious indoctrination. The reason I use this term is because if your ethics do not match then you are publicly dragged, shamed, and vilified. In a lot of ways social media is extremely harmful and toxic but it can also have its benefits.

Another thing i have seen on social media as well as in person is a practitioner say they wouldnt target a pet or a child. They then go on to say that actually, yes they would if given the right circumstances like "if I was pushed" then proceed to berate you for not holding that same mindset or outlook. By saying that actually they would target a pet or a child, makes them the same kind of "immoral practitioner" they have cast out because they would still do it.

Lets move on to love spells and magic that interferes with free will. This is where it can get extremely murky. Generally speaking I view anything that removes free will is to be considered baneful in nature. If you were to cast a love spell to bring together two people who dont want to be together, is this considered baneful because it is against the will of one or both involved parties? What if you were to bring two people who already have an existing connection together is this still baneful? This presents a moral dilemma to the person who is casting the love spell. There are practitioners who will do these love spells but they are few and far between, As far as I'm concerned you asked for this working, you knew what the results and consequences would be but you wanted it done anyway. Thats a you problem and it can eat your conscience not mine.

To sum it all up, dont hold someone else to your moral standards. Remember that others dont share your ethics so protect against such actions. Just because you wouldnt do something certainly doesn't mean someone else wont.
